"Bethlehem made an impact on the lives of many in rural North Carolina. In the aftermath of Hurricane Helene, many have found access and sustainability to heating sources become an increasing challenge. Bethlehem rose to that challenge by helping fund a propane filling station and a seasoned firewood distribution site for communities in need.
It has been amazing to witness the amout of faith and generosity that so many folks (including Bethlehem) have had toward each other and the ways that folks have cared for each other. It has brought beauty out of disaster."
"The Youth Gathering opened my eyes and my heart to a new city (New Orleans) and new people that I was not familiar with. It was an opportunity to expand relationships with youth and adults that I knew and to make new relationships. A specific relationship that I've built was with the women's shelter that we worked with for a service project.
I'll never forget that on that trip we were given a "wooden heart." I carry that with me in my pocket every day. Often I remember the love we experienced in that city: in our "Mass Gathering" worship with thousands of people from all across the country, in our outreach, in our fun activities, and especially in sharing communion together.
I'll also never forget the ways that I saw God in the world around us: from a swamp tour to see some gators, from the wind that blew while we ate beignets, and getting caught in the rain.
Simply put, if you get the chance to go...go! It's an experience unlike any other, and every moment of every day was an opportunity to experience something special."
